In the face of a sociopolitical crisis that has left families in Fako Division, South West Region, Cameroon, grappling with immense challenges, Bishop Immanuel Bushu, together with the dedicated team at CARITAS Buea, embarked on a remarkable journey of compassion and transformation. With the generous support of their funding partner, Malteser, they implemented an extraordinary project that provided life-changing Emergency WASH Assistance to the affected communities.

Driven by their shared vision of alleviating suffering and restoring hope, Bishop Bushu and CARITAS Buea worked tirelessly to address the urgent needs of the affected families. Their collaborative efforts yielded remarkable results, bringing about a positive impact that resonated throughout the region.

Through the project, 300 hygiene kits were distributed, ensuring that families had access to essential items for maintaining their personal hygiene and dignity. CARITAS Buea played a pivotal role in coordinating these efforts, meticulously organizing the distribution and ensuring that the kits reached those who needed them the most.

Recognizing the critical importance of access to safe drinking water, Bishop Bushu and CARITAS Buea, with the generous support of Malteser, undertook the construction of two boreholes. One borehole was established at St. Laeticia along the Tiko-Douala road, while the other was created in T

Tole. These reliable sources of safe drinking water have become lifelines for the affected communities, drastically improving their health outcomes.

CARITAS Buea, guided by their commitment to holistic well-being, organized hygiene promotion activities that reached out to 1,000 individuals. Through engaging campaigns and educational sessions, community members were empowered with knowledge and practices to maintain a hygienic environment. CARITAS Buea’s unwavering dedication and expertise were instrumental in ensuring the success of these initiatives.

Additionally, the project addressed the unique needs of women by distributing menstrual hygiene management items and conducting sensitization sessions. CARITAS Buea played a central role in coordinating these efforts, providing a compassionate and supportive environment that fostered healing and empowerment.
